Package: sysklogd
Version: 1.4.1-13
Severity: wishlist
Hi,
in some situations, it would be good to be able to grep log files that
have already been written for facility/priority. This is currently not
possible since facility/priority are thrown away after the have been
used to determine which file to write to.
Please consider adding an option that causes syslogd to log
facility/priority code (for example as numeric <f/p> at the end of the
message) to the log files.
For backwards compatibility, I'd like to see that as an option in
syslogd.conf which can be set for certain files and unset for others.
This could - for example - be set by prefixing the log file name with ~.
Greetings
Marc
