Package: samba
Version: 3.0.0beta2-1
Severity: critical
When samba is started from (x)inetd the initscript starts the nmbd in
any way. This will result in many nmbd prozesses so that the system will
be unusable (to many open files) ore will do a rebootloop if a watchdog
is running.
This is so fast that it is nearly impossible to stop nmbd from running
bevore the system is unusable.
To resolve this problem, simply DO NOT START samba when choice is inetd!
And yes, I think this is a easy to solve but critical bug of samba
because the system gets unusable.

It seems that this was resolved as not being the samba package's fault. If
you disagree, please provide more information regarding the issues discussed
in the bug thread.
