Subject: samba has issues when clients access Paradox files on samba share
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
X-AntiVirus: scanned for viruses by AMaViS 0.2.1 (http://amavis.org/)
Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Package: Samba
Version: 2.2.3a-6

I'm having two issues sharing a Paradox file using Samba.

I have a Paradox database on my woody (stable) server that is accessed
from Win98 clients. Everything worked using the old Samba 2.0.7-5.
After upgrading, I have found that writing to Paradox files with
oplocks enabled creates massive corruption on the accessed files.
Disabling oplocks, I cannot write to Paradox files. (writing tests
were done by adding a row at the end of a Paradox table)

I have checked on samba.org, and found that some bug fixes regarding
similar issues with Paradox and Access files have been included in
2.2.5, that's the current stable version.

I'm running Woody, updated from security.debian.org, with a 2.4.18
kernel compiled for SMP (but with only one processor on) and libc6
2.2.5-6.
