Package: dovecot-core
Version: 1:2.1.7-7
File: /usr/sbin/dovecot

Severity: normal
Dear maintainer,

Upon upgrade to wheezy, my mixed-case username which previously showed up in
the dovecot logs as intended, now is converted to lowercase,
and the pam-login fails. Please advise what I can do to get it working again!!

Yes, that totally solved the problem. I haven't been able to find this in any documentation, so it's great to have a direct help with this. I thought I had reported back that it worked. (And also that I thought it should be the default, because there is little reason not to..?)

I agree it ought to be the default but I'll have to consider the possible ramifications first. I can also add a line or two to README.Debian about it.
