I have several mail folders that accumulate at about 2 GiB every month, with 200,000-250,000 emails in each. Though adding more emails to the folders appears to be working properly(which used to be a problem with older versions of thunderbird), the "Size" column on the left hand folder listing disappears if you go over 2048MB.
