Package: texlive-latex-base-doc
Version: 2009-11+squeeze1

During texlive installation, the (badly outdated) file
/usr/share/doc/texlive-doc/generic/babel/language.dat

is accessed instead of

/usr/share/texmf-texlive/tex/generic/config/language.dat

Apparently tex is not to search /usr/share/doc/texlive-doc/
but somehow it does.

The installation proceeds smoothly after renaming,

cd /usr/share/doc/texlive-doc/generic/babel/ \
&& mv language.dat language.dat.outdated

Then the proper file

/usr/share/texmf-texlive/tex/generic/config/language.dat

is read.

I suggest that the file is both renamed and updated.

I am using

cat /etc/debian_version
6.0.5

kernel 2.6.32-5-686 #1 SMP Sun May 6 04:01:19 UTC 2012 i686 GNU/Linux

Best regards,
Andrew
