Package: meld
Version: 1.1.5.1-2
Severity: wishlist
Almost all my usage of meld is when dealing with files on the command
line, often in quite deep directories. I can start meld with the
relevant files on the command line and use '&' but it would be very
useful if I could keep that instance open, close the tab with the old
files and open a new tab in that instance with other files for
comparison. Navigating to those directories in the GUI is laborious.
Currently, running meld file1 file2 & always starts a new instance. If
meld could support a --new-tab command line option (similar to web
browsers), I could start meld once and run meld -n file1 file2 &, fix
the comparison, close that tab, continue working and run meld -n file3
file4 & again for the next comparison. The advantage is that meld
doesn't need to spend time starting up repeatedly.
Thanks.
