Package: iproute
Version: 20080725-2
Severity: normal
The src option used in a 'ip -6 route add' command is ignored ; and normal RFC
3484 default address selection is computed.
Steps to reproduce:
0. An IPv6-aware network has to be available, with an <ipv6 dev> device having
multiple IPv6 addresses configured (ip -6 addr add .. dev <ipv6 dev>)
1. ip -6 route add <dest network> src <desired v6 address> <ipv6 dev>
2. attempt to reach <dest network> will be done using the default RFC 3484
address, NOT the <desired v6 address> one
If my understanding is correct, the src address should be used after routing is
established, with a greater priority than RFC 3484 default address selection.

Hello,
On closer inspection (aka asking on the netfilter ml), it turns out that
the problem I described is not with iproute, but with the source address
being determined before the packet can be marked by iptables.
Closing this bug again. It's a shame that it doesn't work, but I suspect
this cannot be fixed in iproute.
Best,
-Nikolaus
