Dear Maintainer,
Noticing on SID that vim doesn't have python support compiled in and
there doesn't appear to be an alternative package to provide that
support. I just find that odd since there is still vim-python-jedi out
there which requires a python supporting vim. Yes, I realize I can
compile my own, I'm just a little surprised at the missing support.

According to the info reportbug included, you're using the vim package.
This package has never had any of the language bindings included.

$ apt-cache search ^vim python
vim-python-jedi - autocompletion tool for Python - VIM addon files
vim-athena - Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor - with Athena GUI
vim-gnome - Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor - with GNOME2 GUI
vim-gtk - Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor - with GTK2 GUI
vim-nox - Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor - with scripting languages support
All of the above, save vim-python-jedi, are alternative Vim builds which
include the Python, TCL, Perl, Lua, and Ruby language bindings.
