In CJK languages, a thousands separator is very unnatural and
hardly pronouncible. Traditionally, a "myriads separator"
(comma every 4 digits) is used.

However, this is only a low-priority wishlist item because
English-centric computing has been here for so long that even
most Chinese have already forgotten that numbers are supposed
to have commas every 4 digits instead of 3 digits and we've
got used to laborously counting digits no matter whether
commas are in the number or not :-(

the thousand separator was removed as Hrvoje described in the bug. 
(Since the wget version 1.12 squeeze)
