Package: util-linux
Version: 2.12-7
Severity: minor
File: /sbin/mkswap
Hi,
mkswap's man page says:
| The maximum useful size of a swap area now depends on the architecture.
| It is roughly 2GiB on i386, PPC, m68k, ARM, 1GiB on sparc, 512MiB on
| mips, 128GiB on alpha and 3TiB on sparc64.
But, according to
http://www.uwsg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0306.1/0583.html, this
limit has been increased with 2.4.x, x > 10. Looks like swap spaces
up to 64 GB are allowed now, and work with current unstable mkswap.
So the manpage should be updated.
Greetings
Marc
