Package: bsnes
Version: 0.088-5
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
2 player famicom games are unplayable in BSNES on Wheezy because no input
is registered on the second controller port. Player 1 input works just fine.
Repro steps:
1) Configure Input mappings for Famicom Controller ports 1 and 2
2) Load a 2 player NES game.
3) Ensure that both Controller Port 1 and Conroller Port 2 are set to 'gamepad'
under Famicom menu
Expected result:
In 2 player games, both player 1 and player 2 are controllable as per the
configuration in step 1.
Actual result:
Player 1 controller works as expected, but player 2 input is completely
ignored.
Extra information:
I tried this on 2 different systems running Wheezy. On the first one, I tried
a combination of keyboard and gamepad (Logitech F310, FWIW) mappings for both
controllers to no avail. On this (the second) system, I only tested with
the keyboard. Also FWIW, the games I tested with were The Legend of Zelda
(saving is impossible) and Super Mario Bros. (on the SMB/Duckhunt ROM).
I haven't tried this with the latest (or any) upstream release, so I can't tell
you whether or not this is Debian specific. However, it would appear (nothing
relevant turned up in a Google search, checked the outstanding issues on both
BSNES & Higan project sites) that if this is an upstream issue then Byuu is
unaware of it.
