There is no way to make a bookmark that will just get one a directory
listing.

Sure, one can go to e.g., file:///tmp/ and make a bookmark.
But when one later clicks such bookmark, one is forced to choose a
file. On cannot just make a bookmark that will take one to
"Index of file:///tmp/", no questions asked.
