Package: file
Version: 5.04-5+b1
Severity: normal
When running file on the boot sector of a disk in an IBM PS/1 (486-class
ca. 1994), file claims that it is a Windows XP MBR. Since the machine
cannot possibly run Windows XP and the first partition indicates MS-DOS
5.0, I believe this is an error. I can confirm that this disk has never
touched a Windows XP machine with the owner, if you'd like.
lakeview ok % file bootsector
bootsector: x86 boot sector, Microsoft Windows XP mbr; partition 1: ID=0x6,
active, starthead 1, startsector 38, 414010 sectors; partition 2: ID=0xfe,
starthead 0, startsector 414048, 608 sectors, code offset 0x33
I've attached the first 4096 bytes of the disk so you can test it
yourself.

Thanks for the reproducer. Seems this has been fixed upstream, a
recent file reports:
bootsector: DOS/MBR boot sector MS-MBR,D0S version 3.3-7.0 english at offset
0x8b "Invalid partition table" at offset 0xa3 "Error loading operating system"
