I have the keyboard shortcut Super-B mapped to open a new browser tab,
by running "firefox -new-tab about:blank". This causes Firefox to open
a new empty tab (or open in the first place if not running). In GNOME
2, this would always raise Firefox to the front and give it the focus.
However, in GNOME 3, this only occurs if this shortcut ends up starting
a new instance of Firefox. If it just opens a tab in an existing
window, GNOME 3 just shows a notification "$FIREFOX_WINDOW_TITLE is
ready", which I have to click on to bring the window to the front and
focus it. This breaks my finger macros (Super-B Ctrl-L URL [enter],
Super-B Ctrl-K search text [enter]).
