Package: i3-wm
Version: 4.7.2-1~bpo70+1
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
I have windows with titles that are not single-byte, but which turn out
as empty boxes in i3. With some other window managers, I can see the
proper titles, and I would like to be able to see them in i3, too.
TIA!
Kind regards,

An empty box most likely means that the font you are using doesn’t
contain the relevant glyph.
See http://i3wm.org/docs/userguide.html#fonts for more details about
configuring fonts. With pango, you can specify multiple fonts for
fallback. Code2000 is a font that contains a lot of the rarer Unicode
glyphs.
In case you have more questions, I recommend our IRC channel.
I’m closing this bug because I’m convinced this is a font configuration
issue.
In case your problem remains and you have verified that the pango (!)
font(s) you are using contain the glyph, please directly open a bug at
http://bugs.i3wm.org/ — not all of our developers check the Debian BTS.
