Package: apper
Version: 0.8.1-1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
After recent upgrade apper no longer functions for testing. Each time I
attempt to upgrade or list installed packages it crashes.
When run from terminal apper produces the following error: apper: symbol
lookup error: /usr/lib/apper/libapper.so: undefined symbol:
appstream_database_new
apt-get upgrade still works, but less technical uses who are unfamiliar with
apt-get could be stuck unable to upgrade all packages indefinitely.
This might be fixed in 0.8.2 however there is no way to upgrade other than
using the terminal at this time. That might cause issues.
Thanks!

Yes, this is a really unfortunate case... The update would have been
smooth, but bug#743087 in an unrelated package broke it.
There is no way for me to solve this directly in testing, but it's
already fixed in unstable, and I've made the packages migrate to
testing as soon as possible.
You should have received an update of Apper today, in fact ;-)
Cheers,
Matthias
