This seems like a very bad failure mode because it basically does a
DOS against the IRC server.
Now I can't reproduce this on jessie, so there has to be something
weird with the libraries here... Still, the failure is one thing, but
the repeated attempts is another...

i don't see much wrong here; irker tries to login with password,
password fails, attempts to login get throttled, everything is logged,
admin needs to read the log and fix the password.
