gnome-screensaver does not start on boot. It has an entry under
/usr/share/gnome/autostart and
nowhwere else. https://developer.gnome.org/autostart-spec/ does not mention
this dir which
leads me to believe it may be old and deprecated (and hence no longer used).
The standard gnome 3 toosl for editing startup applications do not show any
entries for items in
/usr/share/gnome/autostart but do for the ones in ~/.config/autostart and
/etc/xdg/autostart
(the ones mentioned in https://developer.gnome.org/autostart-spec/).
