Hello Maintainer,

I run an intranet server for 73 users and du to X-Mas spam I was runing
out of diskspace on /home where the MAILDIR of the users are.

While procmail send an error back to my courier-mta and the mail stayed
without problems undelivered in the spool of the courier-mta, "r2e run"
was not able to detect "disk full" state and killed ANY *.dat files to
ZERO Bytes.

I consider this as a grave error and of course, feed config and download
log should be seperated as already mentioned in another Bug-Report.

To avoid a sitze problem (it seems, r2e can not handel *.dat files with
more then 1200 kBytes) in the *.dat files I have already splited my RSS
Fedds into:

~/.rss2email/Bia2.dat
~/.rss2email/Erdbeerlonge.dat
~/.rss2email/IAEA.dat
~/.rss2email/Maxim.dat
~/.rss2email/PressTV.dat
~/.rss2email/Rian_ru.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Afghanistan.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Crimes.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Germany.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Irak.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Iran.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Islam.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Israel.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Jemen.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Justice.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Klima.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Kurden.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Military.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Miscelaneous.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Morocco.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Netzwelt.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Peoples.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Politik.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Scientific.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Secret_Services.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Somalia.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Special_Units.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Terror.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_USA.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Warcrimes.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Wars.dat
~/.rss2email/Spiegel_Online_-_Wirtschaft.dat
~/.rss2email/Texas_Instruments.dat

and run them timely organized from "crontabs".

I suggest to split the *.dat files into

    1) *.conf containe the feed info
    2) *.dat containe Info about downloaded articles

Also should r2e verify before downloading articles, whether it can write
a temporary file in the appropriaed sizes which then is moved to the
original *.dat file. All other actions are definitively crap.

Thanks, Greetings and nice X-Mas

Hello,

Now r2e can detect when the disk full and will avoid this kind of
corruption. It writes the new data file to a temporary file and rename
it in an atomic manner:

https://github.com/wking/rss2email/commit/466e843e

So I believe that this is taken care of. Otherwise, feel free to
reopen this bug.

Thanks for your report!
