I tried to find the right package for this, please reassign if wrong.
I'm using a laptop with VGA out, which I plugged a monitor into and used
xrandr to set it as above my LCD. When I did that, nautilus (or whatever
it is) uses the two displays as one big screen. As a result, only part
of the wallpaper is shown and it is stretched. Instead, I would expect
the same wallpaper to be shown on both desktops.

this is an old bug.
I'm closing this bug now since it seems to be fixed.
The picture-options is under org.gnome.desktop.background with dconf-editor.
If you can still reproduce it feel free to reopen and provide more info.
