Package: guake
Version: 0.4.2-8
Severity: normal
Dear maintainers,
Guake is impacted by the following bug but this bug is not specific to Guake. I
don't know where is the best place for this report.
Since few weeks, the tab switch, refresh and scrolling in Guake are very slow
(between 1 and 3 seconds). This issue affects XFCE and Gnome terminals too but
not mrxvt terminal or GUI applications like Iceweasel.
For example, if I launch the command "time ls /usr/bin" in:
* Guake terminal (full screen):
"time" returns:
real 0m7.803s
user 0m0.024s
sys 0m0.024s
but the listing takes more than 16 s.
* Gnome terminal (full screen):
"time" returns:
real 0m6.047s
user 0m0.032s
sys 0m0.016s
but the listing takes more than 14 s.
* XFCE Terminal (full screen):
"time" returns:
real 0m5.729s
user 0m0.024s
sys 0m0.020s
but the listing takes more than 13 s.
* mrxvt (full screen):
"time" returns:
real 0m0.061s
user 0m0.016s
sys 0m0.032s
and the listing is instantaneous !!!
This slowness is painful because I use a lot of terminals for everyday tasks
and I can't fall back on mrxvt because it does not support UTF-8.
I would be really delighted if you could correct this bug.
Thanks in advance.
Sébastien
