Debian had as release goal since etch (and probably earlier, I don't
remember) support out-of-the-box for ipv6 wherever relevant.

Please consider enabling "inet6" hints to the default config, as in
attached patch.

(the patch also contains a sample config optimied for use woth the
"One Laptop Per Child"-project that you might want to adopt too)
