RFC 7208 (the standards track update to SPF) did away with the dedicated DNS
RR type for SPF version 1. While other updates associated with RFC 7208
probably need to wait for upstream, the referenced patch suggests this part
might be really easy:

It would be nice to get this in for Jessie since it can result in a
significant reduction in SPF related DNS queries as well as avoiding some
interoperability issues.
