Unfortunately, it looks like I can’t do something to make ReText show
icons on environments that don’t use Qt or Gtk+ themselves.
While Gtk+ has an unified place to look for icon theme settings (that is
gsettings), Qt doesn’t have one.
- For environments that use Gtk+ themselves (Qt has a hard-coded list of
such environments), it loads the icon theme name from Gtk+ settings.
- Environments that use Qt (like KDE or LXQt/Razor) provide their own
“platform plugin” that tells Qt which icon theme to use.
OpenBox does not belong to any of the above lists, so there is nothing
Qt can do with it.
Some time ago I suggested the idea of using the XSettings protocol
to allow applications to get configuration information in an environment-
independent way, but as that protocol is poorly standardized (and will
not be available after switch to Wayland), Qt developers rejected this
idea.
The only thing I can do is providing a way to set the icon theme manually,
and it looks like that works for you. So I am closing this bug.
