i installed the launcher freespace2-launcher-wxlauncher
but not the recommended package freespace2 because i wanted to use the

binary version online from the FS2 website.
The wxlauncher segfault if the freespace2 package is not installed
so make it a dependencies instead of recommended or fix wxlauncher to
not segfault
if he cannot find what is missing at the start.

If you wanted to use the latest binary you could get it from "unstable".
That includes freespace2 (wx)launcher too.

No, you probably experience the following issue:

You can use an easy workaround for this problem as described in the above bug
report.
This bug was fixed in the later release that you can pull from "unstable".

wxlauncher can be used without "freespace2" package in exactly the way you
want -- with untrusted 3rd party binaries. This is the reason why wxlauncher
only Recommends "freespace2" but not depend on it.
