Hello,

Thanks for packaging swat. Some feedback:

I installed swat, pointed my browser to localhost:901 and got an error.
Then, I RTFMd and sorted things out. However a bunch of ideas has spawned:

In the manpage, there is a Debian-specific note telling to work by hand on
/etc/inetd.conf . I'd have expected that piece of information in
/usr/share/doc/README.Debian, and maybe it should be copied there, too.

In /usr/share/doc/README.Debian I'd also have expected a "You can find
swat pages at http://localhost:901 after you enable it", in case I
forget the SWAT port number. Webmin does it, and CUPS too IIRC, and I
find it very useful.

I also tried dpkg-reconfigure swat, expecting some low-priority question
to enable the daemon, but found none. Maybe the confirmation screen
notifying that SWAT rewrites samba configuration can be changed with
something along the lines of:

SWAT rewrites Samba configuration and can be a security risk [note:
can it be? Even if configured to only run from localhost?].

Do you want to enable it?

  [Yes] [No]

  [possibly with Yes preselected]

Lastly, and perhaps more important, there it problem with goals: if I
install swat, I indeed want it to work, possibly out of the box.
Warnings and other indecisions should be sorted out directly in the
package description, as that is what I use to choose if I want to
install the package or not.

Just in case I still installed it and tried it by mistake and overwrite
my carefully crafted smb.conf, the postconf scripts could however make a
backup of the existing smb.conf.

Bye,

Enrico
