Subject: amanda-server: amrmtape fails if /tmp/amanda doesn't exist
X-Mailer: reportbug 1.50
Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2002 15:41:44 -0700
Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Package: amanda-server
Version: 1:2.4.2p2-4
Severity: normal

If /tmp/amanda does not exist (such as right after boot, when /tmp has
been cleaned out), amrmtape doesn't work. It expects to create a temp
file in /tmp/amanda.

$ /usr/sbin/amrmtape Foo Foo01
/usr/sbin/amrmtape: /tmp/amanda/tapelist: No such file or directory

Workaround: create /tmp/amanda with appropriate permissions first. If
you run amcheck, it will do this.

Fix: have amrmtape create /tmp/amanda itself if needed. Or put the temp
file somewhere else.

This problem no longer exists, because the modern version of amrmtape (and
related commands) all use amgetconf to fetch information from the amanda.conf
file, and amgetconf will create /tmp/amanda if it doesn't already exist.

Closing this bug with no further action taken.
