Use a simple app like notify-send to create a notification window. Use so much
text in the body of the notification that the notification does not fit
vertically in the resolution. This will cause metacity to crash and restart or
compiz to crash and metacity to replace it. Not a big bug but a bug
nonetheless. I'm pretty sure any gtk widget that is bigger than the current
resolution will also crash the window manager. Obviously that is another
problem entirely.

Hi,
I am closing these bugs as they are either unapplicable to modern
notification-daemon versions, cannot be reproduced, or are unrelated to
the project.
If you think one of the bugs still applies to notification-daemon 3.18, please
feel free to reopen it. Also feel free to reply to me in private if you have
any questions.
I want to highlight that the Notification Daemon is a standalone program that
shows notifications sent via FreeDesktop.org Notifications interface.
Notification Daemon is *not*:
- a tool to *send* the notifications (notify-send is such a tool);
- a tool to display system information like volume/brightness level (this
functionality is provided by i.e. gnome-flashback);
- a panel applet;
- an official part of GNOME project (GNOME Shell uses its own notifications
system).
