Package: smartmontools
Version: 5.38-2+lenny1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I suspect my problem is similar to the already archived bug:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=526011

Iam using a LSI Logic SAS1068 Fusion MPT SAS/SATA controller and luckily
the MPT bug that caused the drives to become unavailable is already
fixed in linux-image-2.6.26-2-openvz-amd64 (lenny kernel).

*** For package 'smartmontools 5.38-2+lenny1':

The simptoms are the same as described elsewhere: smartctl works fine
for all drives (even without specifying -d sat), smartd on the other
hand seems to work only with the last device listed in smartd.conf:
--
/dev/sg0 -a -d sat
/dev/sg1 -a -d sat
--

This configuration gives the following 'smartd -dn' output:
--

Not even smartctl works:

As expected 'smartd -dn' doesnt work either:

It seems that either newer smartmontools packages need a newer kernel or
they are completely broken for this controller.
