Package: foomatic-filters-ppds
Version: 20050913-1

Currently both foomatic-filters-ppds and hplip package provide exactly
the same PPDs for hpijs binary drivers from hplip project. When both
packages are installed this results in duplicate entries in GUI tools
like gnome-cups-add. Hplip xml data to generate hplip PPDs is not
maintained in foomatic-db at linuxprinting.org but in hplip project.
Also hplip PPDs should always match with the installed version of hpijs
binary drivers because new versions of binary drivers can provide new
possibilities. For the above reasons HPLIP PPDs should be removed from
foomatic-filters-ppds and only be provided by hplip-ppd.

Please also read the PPD File Structure Specification I wrote, it can be
found at http://wiki.debian.org/PpdFileStructureSpecification.

Regards,
Pascal De Vuyst

Description:
 foomatic-filters-ppds - linuxprinting.org printer support - prebuilt PPD files
Closes: 347668
Changes:
 foomatic-filters-ppds (20060113-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * New upstream release. (Closes: #347668)
   * PPD files are moved into /usr/share/ppd/foomatic-rip, consistent with
     the spirit of http://wiki.debian.org/PpdFileStructureSpecification
   * HPIJS PPDs are now in hplip-ppds; to ease the transition, this package
now depends on that package (and will do so through the release of etch).
