I tried to build a newer upstream source of zsnes (1.42) with
your debianization, after installing all the packages your
debian/control file lists as Build-Depends. The build failed
until I added automake to my system.

Other than that, the patch you have for src/video/2xsaiw.inc
still applies to zsnes 1.42 (i.e. the upstream still uses "end"
as a jump-target label, which you work around by renaming it to
"end1"). Hopefully you will update the Debian package to the
latest upstream source soon.

   * New maintainer, acknowledge NMU. (closes: #301611, #293061)
   * Switch to dpatch.
   * Add patch from upstream CVS to fix 100% CPU problem while in GUI.
     (closes: #319299)
   * Since we do provide at least one sample ROM, there is absolutely
     no reason to leave this in contrib. Move to main (closes: #313137)
