Hello,
After read your mail to debian-devel about support for merged /usr, I
installed usrmerge.
iceweasel did stop to work, a libpng12-0 symlink was broken (I can see #766809)
I had to :
sudo apt-get --reinstall install libpng12-0:amd64 # to make it work
again (i have too i386 libpng12-0 package installed)
Maybe Readme.Debian file could say about this kind of issues
