Hi,
Since my last upgrade pidgin stopped workign.
Seems every gstreamer0.10 app in the system stopped working too,
even gst-inspect.
Problem:
$ gst-inspect
Cannot connect to server socket err = No such file or directory
Cannot connect to server request channel
jack server is not running or cannot be started
<hung forever>
The problem was libgstopenal.so from gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad was
loadgin libjack.so which hung forever without running jack server.
Pidgin hung with the exact same error output as gst-inspect as did
every other gstreamer related app i tried.
The fix was to blacklist libgstopenal.so with:
mv -i /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gstreamer-0.10/libgstopenal.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gstreamer-0.10/libgstopenal.soBLACKLIST
After that all apps including pidgin worked again.
