This is more a question than a bug report. I'm wondering why there isn't
some reasonable default environment, like for $GOPATH, set up in
/etc/profile.d/ for Go? Just seems like that should be part of the
package.

Definitely agree with Michael -- if upstream decides that a default
GOPATH value is appropriate, we'll follow suit, but until then, it
isn't really appropriate IMO for us to dictate one on our users. :)
