Package: buildd.debian.org
Severity: important

Hi,

the current kernel of the mipsel buildds leads to an FTBS when compiling
the package "eso-midas" [1]. The problem is fixed in recent kernel
versions, but the buildds still run with the older ones.

This leads to the unfortunate situation that for every upload, I have to
search for a mipsel machine that is not affected by the bug (currently a
CI20) and compile and upload manually; otherwise the package would not
migrate to testing.

Please upgrade the kernel on the buildds, or "somehow" integrate the
patch that fixes the bug.

Best regards

Ole

Far outdated it's probably not the right term. It's the jessie version,
which includes many fixes.

Not, it doesn't cause this issue. It's a different issue, bug#798818 is
about SIGILL, while this one corresponds to a precision issue in the
results.

We have identified an hardware FPU bug on the Loongson 3 build daemons,
a dozen of packages are known to be affected so far, it seems your
package is an additional one.

It succeeds there, because the buildd uses a different CPU, which does
not have this bug. We aim to replace all the Loongson 3 MIPS buildds by
these one in the long term, also as the other ones are faster.

mipsel-aql-02.debian.org is building only mipsel and mips64el, and it
seems it only has tried to build casacore for mipsel.

As explained above, this won't fix your issue. That said I have
configured those build daemons to not build casacore anymore, and I have
given back casacore. This should fix your issue.

If you have another similar issue with another package, don't hesitate
to send a mails to mipsel/mips/[email protected] or open a bug
so that we can apply the same strategy.
