Hi,

gnarwl in Wheezy/Jessie neither supports secure encrypted communication
with the LDAP server (SSL, StartTLS) nor failover configuration with
several LDAP servers. This makes it quite cumbersome to use in an ISP
environment.

There is a fork on Github which carries that code (and my patch for
#703369 as well). It has been working fine here for the last couple of
months. I have a local package that has also cleaned the packaging up
quite a bit (using the debhelper sequencer), if you are interested I can
update it and send it to you. I cannot upload it myself, I'm just a DM.

The updated git repository is here:

Best Regards,
Bernhard
