So this was unrelated to the 304xx driver? Closing the bug now.

That was due to lack of xserver 1.19 support in the old versions?

Since you are the only known user of the 304xx driver (none of the
Debian NVIDIA Maintainers still has compatible hardware) it would be
great if you could test the 304.134 packages we have now in sid - it
supports the current Xserver in testing. Also testing with Linux 3.9
would be appreciated (currently in experimental), since we anticipate
that a small patch for the kernel module may still be needed.
