Package: fslview
Version: 3.0+4.0.1-1~etch.apsy0
Severity: normal

if you are to view nifti file which has datatype 256, fslview pukes with

fslview: /usr/include/boost/shared_ptr.hpp:253: T*
boost::shared_ptr<T>::operator->() const [with T = OverlayList]: Assertion `px
!= 0' failed.
Aborted

other tools are more informative (actually from fsl 4.0 they even say that it
simply doesn't work with DT 256):

$> avwchfiletype ANALYZE ../data/talairach_atlas.nii.gz /tmp/bogus
This program has not been compiled for this data type

so, minimalistic solution is simply to report sensible error message. Better
wishlist is to support char (1 byte) datatype.
