Hi!

Currently on a system with a bad rtc dovecot never correctly
starts. This is because ntpd sets the clock ~4 minutes backwards on
boot which causes dovecot to exit. Maybe just start dovecot after
ntpd? So the correct time is already present when dovecot starts up.

Regards

Dovecot 2.x no longer kills itself on backward time jumps. It merely
waits max(jump, 3min) before re-launching any worker services, which is
a good workaround.

Other than that, even if we ordered dovecot after ntpd, there are no
guarantees whatsoever that ntpd will have acquired a sync before dovecot
has started.

Marking this as closed, as at least current dovecot versions survive
backward time jumps relatively gracefully.

Apollon
