Hi,
It would be nice if mcelog would be a daemon rather then getting
started from cron every 5 minutes.

After thinking about it for quite some time, I think having mcelog run
as a cronjob has some advantages over running it as a daemon:
- it's one less process running as root in the background
- you'll get a mail from cron if mcelog got something to decode,
which will lead to a faster resolution of the problem
I think running mcelog as a daemon has no advantages today.
I'm closing the bug report; feel free to reopen it if you think the
issue needs to be investigated further. I'll take patches to implement
the daemon and add the needed infrastructure in the package (default
file to configure the daemon/cron behaviour, init script).
Thanks,
JB.
