Package: base
Severity: wishlist
Can you extend the section tag that appears in packages. Extend this
section allows with more comfort to localizate the packages that we want
and selected.
For example, if we run apt-cache show kmail, we receive:
Package: kmail
Priority: optional
Section: mail
Installed-Size: 5972
Maintainer: Debian Qt/KDE Maintainers <[email protected]>
Architecture: i386
Source: kdepim
Version: 4:3.3.1-1
Replaces: libkdenetwork2 (<< 4:3.2.92)
Provides: imap-client, mail-reader
[...]
It could be:
[...]
Section: kde/mail/mail-reader
[...]
or
[...]
Sections: kde mail mail-reader
[...]
[I prefer the last]
With these, we could select _all_ packages that really belongs to kde.
For example, if we use synaptic and we follow the current section tag
for install all kde packages, we leave kmail (because its section is
"mail"). And perhaps it could be a trouble...
Ideally, tags in section field rather than one word was the ideal.
Perhaps it implies tech problems. I don't know. I'm a desktop user.
Thanks and regards,
Xan.

Sorry but this is not going to happen. There are better ways of doing
that (e.g. debtags).
