Hi,
it looks like chromium has no smart card support, meaning one can't use
a certificate stored on a smart card to log in on remote sites using
such certificate-based authentication.
To see what's missing, see Firefox:
Edit → Preferences → Advanced → Security Devices
There, one can add e.g. /usr/lib/pkcs11/opensc-pkcs11.so, which will use
pcscd to talk to the security device, and get certificates available on
it.
Mraw,
KiBi
