Package: gnats
Version: 3.999.beta2+cvs20030310-1
Severity: wishlist
Hi,
It would be very helpful if gnats would treat "Precedence: bulk",
"Precedence: junk", and "Precedence: list" as indicators that the
incoming mail is from an autoresponder, and refrain from sending
acknowledgements in those cases. I've just changed debbugs today to do
this, in the hope of avoiding future loops between debbugs and other
systems. RT already recognizes "Precedence: bulk" and "Precedence: junk"
this way. See #36413.
It would be even more helpful if gnats would set "Precedence: junk" on
its outgoing acknowledgement messages (as opposed to mails being
forwarded through the system), so that debbugs could automatically
suppress acknowledgements to them. See #174503, reporting mutual
acknowledgements between gcc-gnats and bugs.debian.org, which I've
special-cased on bugs.debian.org but would greatly prefer to see fixed
properly. If you can get it fixed on the live gcc-gnats system then so
much the better. :-) (Feel free to clone this part of the message as a
separate bug if it's easier to handle this way; the two things seemed
sufficiently related to submit as a single bug.)
Thanks,
