Package: grub
Version: 0.97-4
Severity: minor
Since Version 0.97 the grub-reboot command has been disabled. I know it
has
been done because the old patch from previous versions doesn't apply
anymore or hasn't been updated.
1. If you're not gonna update or reinclude this patch please:
Add a cleartext message to grub-reboot saying: "Does not work with
this release anymore. Please use grub 0.95cvs...", the provided message
is inside the bash-script and
is hard to find because it isn't shown on the command prompt! I've seen
some questions related to that topic on the internet with people being
in the dark.
2. Why do we need the update from 0.9x to 0.97 in Debian testing when
there is less funcionality in the newer release? I know that it is not
critical, but i really use that function for nvram-wakeup (need a reboot
before new wakeup times are really stored in the bios. after rebooting,
grub just calls a "poweroff kernel" wich switches off the computer). I
used to use
lilo, but since Debian changed its default bootloader to grub (and it
had the same functionality) i sticked with it.
Can you reinclude 0.95cvs in Debian testing OR provide a script wich
does a reboot and then powers off the computer? This is really needed
for the utils which are included vor vdr and nvram-wakeup...
Thanks,
Sebastian.
