This package is pretty buggy and has a dead upstream. As its de facto maintainer, I believe it is no longer suitable for future Debian releases. Besides, there are better alternatives (xboard and others) that can provide equivalent features. Package gmchess has one reverse dependency: pidgin-gmchess.
