mode leaves extra init
to be marked as done.

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Upgrading libc6, going to single user mode, 2 init processes were left.

Running:

init U

left the init process with pid > 1 still dependent on old libc6

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

kill -9 of the init process with pid > 1 returned to multi-user mode with
the init process of pid > 1 gone.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

init U should restart all running init processes.

As far as I can see, by "init process", Arthur meant /etc/init.d/
daemons.

@Arthur, from init(8),

init u only re-execute /sbin/init the binary, it has no relation with
services in /etc/init.d. For that purpose, upgrading libc will trigger
necessary service restarts automatically.
