--- Begin Message ---Package: icedove Version: 31.7.0-1~deb8u1 Severity: important Hello, in the current stable version of icedove, autocompletion does too much, to the point of not letting you send a message to the address you want. Assume you have an addess such as [email protected] in your Address Book. Suppose now you want to write a mail to [email protected] and start to type it. At some point the autocompletion proposes [email protected], which is fine as a suggestion. Trouble is that there is no way to get rid of it and select the desired (shorter) address. No delete, retype, active editing of the address line works: as soon as the user moves out of the address line with any of enter / tab / mouse click elsewhere / mouse focus on other window / ... the address gets auto-"corrected" to the unwanted [email protected] Of course the trivial workaround is deleting the [email protected] contact in the Address Book, but in practice a user may not be willing to delete a potentially useful contact. I set the preference to important since it makes the program partly unusable to its main purpose: sending mails to desired addresses. Thanx! I'll close this report now. BTW: You can close such reports by yourself. The trick is to send the email not to [email protected] but instead to [email protected]. Adding a string "Version: $version" on the top of the email will let the BTS use this version to set this as fixed in this version. -- Regards Carsten Schoenert
