Package: policykit-1
Version: 0.105-11
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
I installed strech with d-i alpha 2 with no task selected in tasksel. After
booting into the system, I tried to install packages which depend on
policykit-1 and they throw the following error. Installation hangs or
errors out with many packages failing during configuration stage.
Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1: Timeout was
reached (g-io-error-quark, 24)
Failed to execute operation: Connection timed out
This is very similar to the Ubuntu bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/policykit-1/+bug/1436448
In my case the package I am trying to install is freedombox-setup which tries
to install policykit-1 via other packages such as avahi and firewalld.
The workaround suggested on the bug report worked. First if I install
policykit-1 then reboot and after that if I install my packages, it works
without any problem.
I can gather and provide any further information required or try out fixes.

This does not indicate a bug in the policykit-1 package, it simply
indicates that the policykit-1 package is not installed.
Maybe the best action is to ask the freedombox-setup maintainers to
recommend/depends on the policykit-1 package.
In any case, it's nothing that can be fixed in a (not installed)
policykit-1 package, so closing.
Regards,
Michael
