Package: makedev
Version: 2.3.1-78
Severity: important

-- System Information:
Debian Release: 3.1
  APT prefers unstable
  APT policy: (500, 'unstable')
Architecture: i386 (i686)
Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash
Kernel: Linux 2.6.11-1-686
Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968)

Versions of packages makedev depends on:
ii base-passwd 3.5.9 Debian base system master password

-- no debconf information

The command

MobilIgor:/dev# ./MAKEDEV -v irda

reports

create ircomm0 c 161 0 root:dialout 0660
create irlpt0 c 161 16 root:lp 0660
create ircomm1 c 161 1 root:dialout 0660
create irlpt1 c 161 17 root:lp 0660

but nothing really happens.
If you issue

mknod /dev/ircomm0 c 161 0

the device is actually created, similarly with
mknod /dev/irlpt0 c 161 16

I can't reproduce this bug, I don't see how it could happen, and there has
been no followup in nearly a year. Closing with no further action taken.
